solidarity

Short Definition
Unity and mutual support within or between groups, particularly in the context of social justice movements. Solidarity involves standing with marginalized communities to fight for equity and justice.
Relevance
Solidarity allows communities to come together, creating collective approaches to minimizing harm and maximizing shared progress. Although many current systems don’t fully support the intersectional needs of diverse groups, solidarity encourages collaborative learning and resource-sharing. It can help guide more ethical approaches to managing and governing digital spaces, promoting a shared responsibility for protecting community data, knowledge, and rights, even within systems that are still evolving.
