algorithmic bias

Short Definition
The inequitable/unjustified favouring of one data over another.
Relevance
Algorithms often reproduce societal biases, disproportionately impacting marginalized groups in areas like criminal justice and hiring. The key challenge is how to develop truly unbiased algorithms in a world where the data used is itself a product of unequal systems. Can algorithmic bias ever be fully eliminated?
