A framework that emphasizes creating environments where diverse groups are represented, treated equitably, and included in decision-making processes. DEI seeks to address systemic barriers and ensure fairness in opportunities and access for all.
Relevance
Often a corporate-driven initiative that can become performative, focusing on superficial diversity while avoiding real power redistribution. True equity demands confronting systemic inequalities, with a focus on intersectionality and structural change rather than cosmetic representation. There’s potential in shifting DEI from corporate checklist culture to a meaningful tool for dismantling workplace hierarchies and inequities.
