Disability Justice (DJ)

Short Definition
Disability justice is about understanding that (1) all bodies are unique and essential, (2) all bodies have strengths and needs that must be met, (3) the complexities of our bodies makes us powerful, and (4) all bodies are confined by ability, race, gender, sexuality, class, nation state, religion, and more that cannot be separated
Relevance
Queer and trans activists of colour in the Bay area transformed the disability rights movement into its second wave, "Disability Justice" (DJ), towards an intersectional, multisystemic approach to have a better understanding of how disabilities affect Black and Indigenous communities, queer and trans communities, and low-income communities.
