MoSCoW Model

Short Definition
A prioritization technique used in project management that categorizes tasks into four groups: Must have, Should have, Could have, and Won’t have. It helps teams decide which features or tasks are critical for successful project outcomes.
Relevance
The MoSCoW model helps prioritize features in tech development but can overlook intersectional needs when not considering the lived experiences of underserved communities. A challenge is ensuring that critical accessibility features are “must-haves” in project planning. The opportunity is to use this model to center intersectionality from the outset. Moving forward, integrating this approach can ensure that tech projects prioritize equity and reduce harm for exploited communities.
