Etuaptmumk / Two-Eyed Seeing

Short Definition
A guiding principle that integrates both Indigenous knowledge systems and Western scientific perspectives. It encourages seeing through both lenses to address complex issues in a way that honors multiple ways of knowing.
Relevance
This approach blends Western and Indigenous knowledge, offering a holistic framework for tech justice. It addresses the limitations of Western-only models, but challenges arise when integrating different knowledge systems in tech. However, the opportunity lies in creating sustainable solutions grounded in community values. Moving forward, collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities can ensure tech respects both cultures, while promoting environmental and cultural sustainability.
