erasure

Short Definition
The systematic exclusion, dismissal, or invisibility of certain groups, histories, or identities in societal narratives. Erasure can refer to the neglect of marginalized voices in cultural, academic, or political spaces, contributing to their further marginalization.
Relevance
Erasure happens when certain groups’ knowledge, contributions, or histories are excluded from tech spaces. This particularly affects Indigenous, Black, and disability justice communities whose contributions are often overlooked. Addressing erasure requires rethinking technology’s role in preserving and valuing diverse forms of knowledge and experience.
