Open Studio Showcase: Casual Focus Group, Embodied Carbon & Culture of Artwork

Join Lin Lune for a casual focus group on October 7, 2026 from 6:30-7:30PM at InterAccess.
Beginning at 6:30PM sharp with an icebreaker and creative warmup exercise in 2-player poetry, the main drop-in drop-out discussion topic is about how artworks can themselves, as standalone objects, be a solution to the polycrisis.
Participants are encouraged to arrive at 6PM to take a tour of InterAccess' studio (containing woodworking machines, laser cutters, and more) for Open Studio Wednesdays.
Everything contains embodied carbon. What is the CO2e of acrylic (plastic) paint? Gasoline delivery trucks carrying your creatively reused piano? What is the embodied culture of painting cultivated pollen-less roses on the reused piano topboard instead of Alberta Wild Rose? Just a drop in the bucket of societal plant blindness defaulting to safe cultural norms that were artificially planted by old advertisement campaigns, like Japan's fried chicken Christmas, or diamond jewellery, or rose breeders.
Bring questions like the above to this Open Studio adjacent event. We will use a physical whiteboard in a guided discussion to collect everyone's ideas on artwork as waste diversion (Creative Reuse, IA's neighbour), circular materials (St. Armand paper, found at Gwartzman's), and cultural impacts to be debated.Leave feeling energized with the solutions you implemented during the workshop.

About the Organizers
Lin Lune builds scientific fiction containing actionable solutions. Based in Toronto, Canada, spanning poetry, prose, and macrame crafts, her/their work invokes deep thought about the human condition and prosocial futures.Find Lin Lune's self published chapbooks on her website, most recently the interactive 2-player poetry workshop collection titled Luminiferous Matter.
Accessibility Information: We are located on the second floor of the building, which is accessible by two flights of stairs or an elevator. The front entrance has an automatic push door and is accessible by ramp or a short flight of stairs. Inside, all InterAccess facilities are on the same level, including a single-user accessible washroom.
