Sapphire Woods

About
Sapphire Woods (MEd), is a Black trans-gender-nonconforming program consultant and curriculum developer and educator from Tkaronto (so-called Toronto) living in Tio'tia:tke (so-called Montreal). Sapphire develops Anti-Oppressive and Black Affirmative Education and workshops and research. They also provide wellness support for individuals in non-profit organization teams and independent production studios. Their guest lectures at Toronto Metropolitan University explore ‘Anti-Oppression Best Practices’ for Child and Youth Care students as the first step in cultivating ethical and equitable service provision. Sapphire has provided wellness support for participants of the Trans Film Mentorship and Canadian Ballroom Exchange in Tkaronto. Sapphire speaks on various academic panels addressing parents, educators, and students advocating for trans child and youth wellbeing. Sapphire is also an apprenticing herbalist designing accessible workshops for Black and racialized youth and families in Tio'tia:tke.
