This full-time, permanent position leads the organization’s educational and studio programming, which includes planning and coordinating workshops, community events, and equipment training. This position also directly supports our growing membership community of new media artists and technologists.

This is an exciting phase for InterAccess as we settle into our new facilities at 32 Lisgar Street, that offer expanded programming spaces for our members, artists, and audiences. The incoming Education and Studio Manager will have an important role in ongoing consultations around programming and organizational strategy.

Organization Description

Founded in 1983 as Toronto Community-Videotex, InterAccess is a gallery, educational facility, production studio, festival, and registered charity dedicated to new media and emerging practices in art and technology.

InterAccess’s mission is to expand the cultural significance of art and technology by fostering and supporting the full cycle of art and artistic practice through education, production, and exhibition.

Annually we execute multiple exhibitions, a full curriculum of skill-building and critical theory workshops, and a broad range of discursive events that explore the impact of technology on the social, political, and cultural aspects of contemporary life. Our studio space facilitates the circulation of skills and techniques required to produce the work we exhibit in our gallery space.

Job Description

InterAccess seeks an experienced arts professional for the full-time (35 hours/week) permanent staff position of Education and Studio Manager.

The Education and Studio Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for coordinating and implementing InterAccess’s education strategy, ensuring a high quality of educational content. They will also work closely with the Studio Assistant to oversee the development of InterAccess’s studio, equipment, and membership programs.

Responsibilities

Program Development (40%)

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the educational program, including workshops starting in the Winter 2026 season moving forward;
  • Assist in the implementation of educational sponsorship and partnership opportunities;
  • Support the achievement of monthly and annual revenue targets;
  • Support existing educational partnerships with community groups.

Studio Outreach (30%)

  • With support from the Studio Assistant, implement all aspects of the production facilities/studio membership program, including, but not limited to: member onboarding, facilitating renewals, producing communications materials (web and print) related to studio and educational programming, and communicating with members;
  • Facilitate member access to InterAccess production studio and tool training programs;
  • Using online social media and established advertising standards, promote educational programs, increase audience engagement, and reach new audiences for our studio program;
  • Provide active engagement with members at Open Studios and community meet-ups;
  • Work closely with the Studio Assistant to oversee the assessment of existing program administration and implementation;
  • Maintain up-to-date subscriber database and mailing lists.

Financial and Administration (20%)

  • Track enrollment, attendance and payments; support bookkeeping procedures;
  • Maintain up-to-date statistical records of attendance and enrolment;
  • Maintain equipment and inventory lists;
  • Coordinate equipment loan program, including processing requests and invoicing;
  • Produce regular activities reports for stakeholders;
  • Assist with the programming portion of funding applications;
  • Keep internal files on past programming and publicity;
  • Track and monitor budget components related to education program expenditures;
  • Process membership applications and payments;
  • Supervise contract instructors.

Facilities and Equipment (10%)

  • Identify and prioritize equipment needs;
  • Monitor studio supplies and inventory, create purchase plan; 
  • Maintain facility in good state of cleanliness and repair;
  • Maintain security system and health and safety mechanisms;
  • Recruit and contract technicians;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA/BFA/BEd required or commensurate experience;
  • 2-3 years progressive administrative experience in the non-profit or arts sector;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of a second language an asset);
  • The ability to work independently and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment is crucial;
  • Familiarity with electronic media art, with related technical skills;
  • Comfort with MS Word, Excel, basic Adobe CS or CC, and HTML.

 

Hours of Work 

This position is a full-time (35 hours/week) position expected to begin on October 27, 2025.

Standard weekly hours are based on a Monday to Friday schedule, including (most) Wednesday evenings (6-9PM) for Open Studios. Some evenings and weekends will be required based on scheduled programming. Employees can adjust their daily start and end times depending on events and receive time off in lieu for all overtime hours worked. 

Work Location

InterAccess staff work in a hybrid model that allows for a flexible combination of on-site and remote work. However, the Education and Studio Manager is required to be present for all onsite programming activities including workshops, Open Studios, and other community events as scheduled.

Compensation

This position is salaried. The salary is $47,320 to reflect Toronto Living Wage standards, plus two weeks’ paid vacation with additional paid office closures in December/January and August each year. 

Following a three-month probation period, the incumbent is eligible to enroll in a benefits program, the employee’s choice of either a Healthcare Spending Account or a monthly contribution to the employee’s Personal Health Insurance plan.
