hi all -

david, are you doing the board design/layout yourself?

if so, as rob mentioned, APC is well-known, for fast-turnaround prototype boards, and they're in canada. another well-known place is olimex.com in bulgaria. for small prototypes they're much cheaper, two 3"x4" boards with soldermask and component legends for under $40, compared to about $175 (or $85 without solder/component masks) for APC.

for 150 boards, it looks like either place would be around $2000, according to their website prices. but i bet if you asked for quotes, olimex would be much cheaper. olimex can also do assembly and soldering, and i think custom design and layout too if you want.

for custom circuit design/layout, pic programming, etc., i might also suggest (shameless plug) www.jeffmann.com ...

for 200 or so boards, after you've got the prototype working, it might be worthwhile to look at getting them done in china or malaysia. i know a couple people who've done that, so i can ask them for recommendations if you want.

i guess this is for motor controllers for your science centre commission? did you decide on steppers, or servos?

I am hoping to get some custom PIC boards made up. Anyone know of a good source? The quantity is in the range of 100 - 200 pieces. It would be a relatively simple board, with a PIC18, CAN net controller, rs-232, and a few digital inputs and outputs. This thing has to be pretty reliable so I am looking for a place with a good quality record.
