Hello,

I am hoping someone on the list might be able to offer me some advice on a couple of project ideas I am currently working on -

The first project involves building a loud portable sound system. I have recently inherited a coffin (after the previous owner came back to life) which I want to turn into a sound system - (its actually only a stage coffin, to put the minds of the squeamish at rest)

The idea is to build some loud, preferably very bassy speaker drivers into the coffin, and also fit inside an ipod, battery and amplifier.. Then a group of pall bearers will carry the sound coffin around at festivals this summer.

i've never built anything like this before and so would really appreciate some advice from anyone who could suggest suitable equipment.. ie what kind of power supply/amplifier and drivers would be best to use.. there is a fairly limited budget so i need to build this on the cheap!

My second question is about infra red remote control.. is it possible to use a large number of infra-red transmitters simultaneously, or would they interfere with each other? I am hoping to have perhaps 20 small robots on the floor of a large room, and to have them each send signals via infra-rd to a receiver(s) on the ceiling to trigger sounds or other events if they bump into something. Is it feasible to use multiple infra red transmitters together like this? I was thinking each robot would send a unique signal that can be specifically distinguished from the others.. but i'm not sure whether the receiver might just get swamped with infra-red light...

any thoughts greatly appreciated,

thanks,

Sam.
