Yes, this is a good way to do it, the advantage is that you need only run rf cable rather than separate audio and video, and it is more immune to hum in the audio and the picture (which will manifest itself as rolling bars). The downside is that you have to use tv sets rather than monitors, or use cable coverters or VCRs to turn it back into audio and video. Mechanically broken vcrs are good for this!

Radio shack sells a little 3-way audio video distribution amp which is surprisingly good, for the money.
