I have only very basic electronics knowledge. I would like to work on the documentation from that perspective. I.e. I would start to learn step by step and enhance the (do-it-yourself) documentation in parallel. create helped me already a bit, in particular he gave me the rights for administering in drupal, so that I can create book pages. He also suggested that I should send my questions to the list. I am a bit confused which comments I should send to a forum and which to the list. Is it possible to forward a forum comment also to the list? I would like to include a forum (or a "root forum topic" in stfn's terminology) called: "Getting started" where people can discuss their problems when getting started. The first topics could be "tools" and "PCB printing", as this is what I will be concerned with at the beginning. Let me know if this is OK with you, if I include this forum. I didn't dare to mess up with the forums as a newcomer :-)! I think about to have a peronal blog about my progress, just as Erins (what happened to it?!) but I think its not enough if beginners have only their blogs - they should also be able to discuss. About the PCB printing: I think I might go for it. But before I buy all the chemicals and drill thousands of wholes (by the way what size are the holes? Is there a difference in size between holed with a square around them to that with an annulus?) I want to make sure that this has SOME sustainability. It is clear to me that you all want to keep the system flexible, but you have to have some kind of stability. I think it would be very useful to have a running "stable AID kit" and a "developpers AID kit" which is up to date but not necessarily stable. yes - it is nerving to supply support and bug fixes to an old kit! but I think at some point this is inevitable if you want to include a broader audience and if you want to have the kit be manufactured. About uploading files. I converted the bitmap of the mainboard_pcb_copper schematic into pdf. Its currently at node 181. I can convert also the other files but I cannot check that into CVS since I am not a developper. Could someone please check wether it has the correct sizes for a print. It looked good to me as the spacings between the pins looked like 2.54 mm = 0.1 inches but still - please check. by the way there is an old file called MAINBOARD_PCB.pdf in http://aid.interaccess.org/drupal/cvscontent/Core/Schematics-and-PCB/mainboard/ it is different from the current bmp file, which you can easily check by looking at the upper right corner. what is the status of that? tak : messages saved at http://www.interaccess.org/aid/list : unsubscribe/help requests to mailto:Majordomo@interaccess.org
