I know in theory it works via other protocols but I think UDP is the standard. (in PDs implimentation for example). I don't think we've spent a lot of effort on this for AID yet. It has been in the plans though!! Are you planning on releasing your work under the GPL? What medium are you transporting UDP over? (ethernet?) Good luck!
